

Douglas Richard Curtis, 47, of Fort Collins, Colorado, formerly of Gering, passed away in Greeley, Colo. Monday, April 18, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. A celebration of his life will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 22, at the Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 23, at the First United Methodist Church in Gering with Pastor Lauren Ekdahl officiating. Cremation will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory. Colorado Blvd, Ste 800N, Denver, CO 80246. Doug was born Dec. 20, 1963, to Robert G. and Karen A. (Senkbeil) Curtis in Scottsbluff. He attended Gering Public Schools, enjoyed Boy Scouts, baseball and football. He attended Nebraska Western Community College and graduated from the University of Wyoming. After college graduation, Doug moved to Phoenix, Ariz., where he spent many years working with his brother Brad building beautiful custom homes. It was in Phoenix that he met the love of his life, Stephanie Jones. Doug and Stefi were married July 7, 2007 in Dillon, Colo. They lived life to the fullest over the years in Phoenix, Vail and Ft. Collins with their ""baby"" (their Bernese Mountain Dog, Stout). Doug was a kind and compassionate young man who was always helping others. He was a talented craftsman in his trade and took great pride in all that he did. He enjoyed road trips with his family, gardening, the mountains and an occasional artisan brew! Survivors include his wife Stephanie; mother, Karen Parish and stepfather Wes Parish; sister, Stephanie (Bruce) Black; brother, Brad (Candice) Curtis; niece, Kelsey Curtis; nephews, Austin Curtis and Ryan Kowalski; step-sisters, Laurie (Mark) Wieting and Susan (Terry) Bejot. Survivors also include his father-in-law, Doug (Tanya) Jones, mother-in-law, Sina Polyakov and brother-in-law Pete Jones. Preceding Doug in death was his father, Bob Curtis. His goal in life was to live life to the fullest, which he did!!!! We love you- UFF DA!!!!
