

Edward R. Bishop, 81, of Scottsbluff, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2010 at Golden Living Center in Scottsbluff. His memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff, with Pastor Brad Gustafson officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Ashby Cemetery. Cremation has taken place at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory in Scottsbluff. Memorials may be made to the Ashby United Church. Edward Bishop was the first born son to Roy and Edna (Alexander) Bishop. He was born in Burwell, Nebraska on October 8, 1928. Ed grew up and lived around the Loup County area. He worked with his family on the farm and then in the well drilling business until 1980. He moved to Hyannis, Nebraska and worked for the Village of Hyannis till he retired in 1991. On October 8, 1992, he married Helen Harris, the love of his life and they resided in Gillette, Wyoming. After Helen’s death, Ed moved back to Grant County where he lived until 2008. He then moved to Golden Village Assisted Living in Scottsbluff where he resided until his death. Ed will be remembered for his great smile and friendly, helpful attitude. He was a member of the Lions, Eagles, Ashby Church, and the Visually Impaired. He enjoyed family, dancing, and playing cards. Ed is survived by his brothers, Harry (Ruby) of Scottbluff and Robert (Bonnie) of Oregon; sister Carole (Jim) Farrenkopf of Melbeta; sister-in-law Sharroll Bishop of Taylor; numerous nieces and nephews; special friend, Maureen Pomajzl; and members of his wife’s family. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife Helen, and his brother Pete.
