
Edward (Jerry) Callahan passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025. Jerry was born on March 7, 1930, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Many of you will remember him as the manager of the Sel-Low/Yellow Front store in Scottsbluff. After 35 years of working for Yellow Front, Jerry retired at the age of 59. He loved work and helping those who worked with him learn how to manage and sell retail goods.
Jerry and Opal (Kramer) Callahan were married in April 1953. Opal and Jerry enjoyed golfing and going to the grocery store. They remodeled the home they lived in in Scottsbluff, went to antique auctions, and spent hours refinishing all their beautiful antique furniture. In their earlier years they enjoyed having a few cocktails and dancing. They had a wonderful married life of 72 years. Opal, his beautiful bride, now lives at Heritage Estates.
Surviving children include twins, Teresa Kim Rodehorst (Johnstown, Colorado) and Kevin Douglas Callahan (Scottsbluff, Nebraska). Their daughter Gail Ann (Callahan) Mosteller died in 2014.
In addition to the surviving children, Jerry and Opal had six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren. Grandchildren include Maryanne (Mosteller) Jacobs, and husband, Travis from Scottsbluff, NE; Phillip Mosteller from Henderson, NV; Myles Callahan, Scottsbluff, NE; Spencer Rodehorst, Brighton, CO, Hannah (Rodehorst) DeSha and husband, Dillan, of Severance, CO. Their grandson, Matthew Rodehorst, died in 2010.
Great grandchildren include Thomas Jacobs and his wife, Dani, Brookhaven, GA; Jarin Jacobs and his wife Becky, Scottsbluff, NE, Connall Mosteller, Henderson, NV; Cassie (Bringelson) Miller and husband, Kyler of Fountain, CO, and Dawson DeSha, Emmalyn DeSha, and Payson DeSha all of Severance, CO.
Great grandchildren include Beau and Kennedy Jacobs, Scottsbluff, NE and Dominik and Maize Miller of Fountain, CO.
