

Dr. Floyd E. “Doc” Brown died peacefully in his home April 9, at the age of 76. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ed Hunzeker officiating. Military honors will be provided by the U. S. Navy. A private family graveside service will be held in West Lawn Cemetery in Gering prior to the service. Memorials may be designated to a charity of your choice. A visitation will held Friday, April 13, 2012 between 3-8:00 p.m. Ed was born January 5, 1936 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Floyd and Dorothy (McPherson) Brown. He grew up in Tennessee and Carabelle, Florida. He was a medic in the Navy and Marines in Okinawa, Japan and honorably discharged after 6 years service. He graduated from Northwestern College of Chiropractic in 1962 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He moved to Gering, Nebraska where he practiced as a chiropractor until his retirement in 2009. He married his current wife in 1985. He was always an avid golfer, Husker fan and Bronco fan. He began continuous recovery from alcoholism in 1991 with the help of his Higher Power and AA. Friends and family admired him for his determination, humility and wit. He is survived by his wife, Jane; children Kim Brown and Guy (April) Brown of Dallas, Texas; Eric (Rebecca) Bruntz of North Pole, Alaska and Amber (Duane) Markuson of Gering. Grandchildren include Alexa Contreras; Amanda and Logan Brown; Colton, Cayley, Ty and Rylie Bruntz; Dillon Thompson and Keagon Markuson and great grandson, Skylar. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother.
