

Gabriel “Tony” Sabala, 43, of Phoenix, Arizona, formerly of Scottsbluff, died Monday, January 16, 2006, at his home. A funeral mass will be 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 21, 2006, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Scottsbluff with Father Thomas Dowd officiating. Interment will be in the Bayard Cemetery, Bayard. Visitation is from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with a rosary at 7:00 P.M. Tony was born December 6, 1962, at Alliance, Nebraska to Gabriel Sabala and Catherine Hernandez. He was raised from the age of two by his adoptive parents Pedro and Margaret Rodriguez. He grew up in Scottsbluff and graduated from the Scottsbluff High School in 1981. He lived in Scottsbluff until moving to Lincoln in 1983. In 1997, he moved to Phoenix. Tony loved to tinker, work on computers and enjoyed watching movies. He liked spending time with people and meeting new people. Survivors include his brothers, Pete (Liz) Rodriguez of Lincoln, Greg (Jane) Rodriguez of Ocean City, New Jersey, Brian Armenta of Brighton, Colorado, David (Deb) Hernandez of Omaha and Art (Kay) Hernandez of Omaha; sisters, Kathy Hernandez of Scottsbluff, Vicky (Steve) McPheron of Denver, Colorado, Bobbie Celaya of Brighton, Colorado, Angela Jimenez of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Adeline Hernandez of Phoenix, Arizona, Rachel (Carlos) Rodriguez of Scottsbluff and Gloria (Benny) Garcia of Bayard; sister-in-law, Rose Hernandez of Scottsbluff; numerous nieces and nephews; and other family members. His birth parents, Gabriel Sabala and Catherine Hernandez; adoptive parents, Pedro and Margaret Rodriguez; brother, Frank Hernandez; sisters, Trina Celaya and Stephanie Martinez; and other family members preceded him in death.
