A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 28th at 2:00 pm at Dugan Kramer in Scottsbluff.
Harlan was born June 1st, 1955, in Sterling, Colorado, to Donna June (Gross) Marrill and Edwin Oliver Marrill. Harlan was always an avid lover of music and played various instruments in the school band throughout all his years in school. He loved rock and roll music, but nothing could top his love of The Beatles. His love of music stayed with him his whole life as he played his acoustic guitar up until his final days.
Harlan was also not only a diehard Nebraska football fan but of college football overall. There was not one fall Saturday that did not include the sport. Whether in the comfort of home or in a hospital bed, he always made sure to have a game on the tv or radio.
He thoroughly enjoyed watching and hearing stories about his grandson Jaxson playing football and baseball. Harlan was an avid gamer and enjoyed all the gaming mediums from card and board games to video games. He also had a passion for WWII history and never stopped learning about all the aspects of the conflict. Often his two hobbies would collide as he spent countless hours with his son Gene playing tabletop and video WWII games.
Harlan graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1973 and WNCC in 1975. He was a member of Phi Theta Kappa at WNCC. He worked various jobs that included mowing lawns before becoming a librarian at Roosevelt Elementary and an adult computer teacher at the Terry Carpenter Center.
Harlan is preceded in passing by his sister Donna Jean Marrill, parents, stepmother Barbara Phyllis (Smock) Marrill, and ex-wife Dawne Renee (Deweese) Ojeda.
He is survived by his son Gene (Stephanie) Marrill of Scottsbluff, brother Bruce Marrill of Cheyenne, WY, sister Vickie (Randall) Johnson of Salina, KS, grandson Jaxson Marrill and his nieces and nephews.
