Helen Mae Richard

Helen Mae Richard, 76 of Gering, Nebraska went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 with her family by her side. At her request, cremation has taken place. Helen will be remembered at a memorial service on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Zion Evangelical Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Garry Schick officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at West Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Evangelical Church or Nebraska Children’s Home Society. Helen was born on May 4, 1933 at Bayard, Nebraska, daughter of Henry and Linda (Baxbaum) Martin. Helen married Harvey J. Richard on January 18, 1953 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. This union was blessed with three children. Helen loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, who were the center of her life. Harvey and Helen enjoyed going to Arizona for the winter, where they spent time with family and friends playing cards and outdoor shuffle board. Helen will be lovingly remembered by her family for her great cooking, gardening, playing games and her love for her family. She is survived by her husband, Harvey of Gering; daughter, Lynn (Milan) Wamboldt, grandchildren: Logan, Aaron and Elizabeth of Torrington, Wyoming; son, Jon Richard, grandchildren: Lars, Tessa, Silas and Elise of Lincoln and son, Paul (Jana) Richard, grandchildren: Michael and Jessy of Gering and four great grandchildren, sisters, Barbara (Dennis) Guilford of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Ilene (John) O’Meara of Castle Rock, Colorado and brother, Don (Ellyn) Martin of Duvall, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one sister and one great grandchild.
