

Janice E. Hutchinson, 76, of Scottsbluff, died Tuesday, August 3, 2010, at her home after a two year battle with pancreatic cancer. Her funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 6, 2010, at Northfield Assembly of God Church in Gering with Pastor Troy Allen officiating. Interment will be in the Oregon Trail Cemetery at Bridgeport. Friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff. A memorial has been established for Janice, which will be chosen later by the family. Janice was born July 13, 1934, in Oshkosh, Nebraska to Aaron (Bun) and Ivy Gladys Justis. She grew up on farms around Bridgeport with her seven brothers and sisters having many fun family adventures. She received her early education at a rural school, North 6, outside of Bridgeport and finished her education in Bridgeport, graduating from high school in 1952. Upon graduation she began her career for the North Western Bell Company as a telephone operator. She continued that career, working for three more companies until her retirement in 1997. She married Virgil S. Hutchinson on April 12, 1954, and resided in San Diego, California, until Virgil was discharged from the United States Marine Corps the following year. They made their home in Bridgeport until 1968, then Beatrice until 1970 and have resided in Scottsbluff for the last 40 years. To their marriage they added three daughters, Carlene (Craig) Wilson of Omaha, Harla (Monty) Gilbreath of Douglas, Wyoming, and Vicki (Vaughn) Hesselgesser of Grand Island. She attended the Assembly of God Church since childhood and always made a special place in life for music. She regularly sang specials in her younger years and enjoyed singing her whole life. She treasured her years at the telephone company and the great people she met and kept as friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant twin sons; sister, Lois Nichols; brothers, Russell, Gale, and Jim Justis. Survivors include her beloved husband, Virgil; daughters, Charlene, Harla, and Vicki; three grandsons; four granddaughters; three great-grandsons; and four great-granddaughters. Her presence will be greatly missed, there will never be another one to take her place, we loved her so much.
