

Jerry Lyn McDaniel, 44, of Gering died Thursday, December 7, 2006 at home with his family by his side after a year and a half battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 11, 2006 at WestWay Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Andy Gudahl officiating. Interment will be in the Bayard Cemetery. Jerry was born August 13, 1962 in Scottsbluff, NE to Melvin and JoAnne (Hubbard) McDaniel. He received his early education in Bayard and moved to Wheatland, WY when he was in the seventh grade. He graduated from Wheatland High School in 1980. He worked for his stepfather Al Keys in his jewelry store until moving to Phoenix where attended DeVry Institute for one year. He came to Scottsbluff and worked for Burlington Northern Railroad, Schwann’s, and Albertson’s. He was also owner of Laramie “Peek” Photography. He married Veronica Maldonado February 27, 1986 in Wheatland, WY. He was forced to retire in 2005 due to his declining health. He loved to fish, hunt and golf, the Atlanta Braves and an avid Husker fan. Jerry is survived by his wife: Veronica; son: Nicholas of the home; daughter: Jessica of the home; mother: JoAnne Keys of Wheatland, WY, brothers: Jim McDaniel, Joel McDaniel and John McDaniel all of Wheatland, Wy; five nieces, six nephews and numerous aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his step-father Al Keys and father Melvin McDaniel.
