

Joel Chancey Gamet, 23, of Kearney, NE, formerly of Mitchell, NE died May 29, 2011 at Zeeland Township, Michigan from injuries he received in an automobile accident. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Mitchell Berean Church with Pastor Scott Mathis officiating. Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the Crawford Cemetery in Crawford, NE. The Chancey Gamet Memorial Fund has been established. Friends may call at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel between 6-8:00 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service at the church. Chancey was born October 16, 1987 in Scottsbluff to Joel Scott and Patricia Shareen (Kelly) Gamet. He grew up and received his education in Mitchell graduating in 2006 from Mitchell High School. He was currently a junior at University of Nebraska-Kearney, where he was majoring in Industrial Distribution. He was serving an internship with ABC Supply in Grand Rapids, MI. His lifelong dream was to own his own construction company. Chancey was active in football, basketball and track while in high school. He loved hunting, fishing, golfing and spending time in the outdoors. He had a unique and contagious laugh and loved spending time with family and friends. When in trouble with his mom his excuse was “you know I’m a mama’s boy” Survivors include his parents; siblings: Lacey Jo Gamet, Black Hawk, SD, Beau (Melissa) Gamet, Denver, CO, and Roxey Anne Gamet, Kearney, NE; grandmothers: Kay Gamet, Scottsbluff, NE and Gloria Kelly, Gering, NE; nieces and nephew: Allison Dietz, Ceanna Dietz and Beau Dietz all of Black Hawk, SD. Preceding him in death were his grandparents Pat and Shirley Kelly and Bud Gamet.
