

Larry A. Propp, 64, passed away, Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at his home with his family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Congregational Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor John Adams officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery with military honors by the Nebraska National Guard. Visitation will be Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel. Larry was born on April 24, 1943 in Scottsbluff, to Phillip and Elizabeth (Benzel) Propp. He was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel Congregational Church. Larry grew up on the family farm east of Minatare and attended Highland School and graduated from Minatare High School in 1961. He participated in high school football and basketball. After high school, he attended Scottsbluff Junior College and later served in the Nebraska Army National Guard. Larry married Jennifer Nuss May 23, 1966 in Scottsbluff. They were married for 18 years; from this union they had two children, Nicole and Taylor. Larry’s long time interest in cars led him to his employment at Cannon Brothers Ford from 1969 to 1985. He then went on to manage Dalton’s/Reganis Auto Center until his death. Throughout his years in the car business he received numerous awards for his outstanding performance. Larry enjoyed collecting and working on his old cars, boating and working in his yard in the summer, and was an avid Nascar and football fan. Larry also enjoyed hanging out with the family dog, Chewy, “his buddy” and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his daughter, Nicole of Tampa, FL., his son, Taylor and daughter-in-law, Heather (Williams) of Scottsbluff; brother, Marvin and wife Marge, and Kenneth both of Scottsbluff; sisters, Phyllis and husband Richard Reifschneider of Bayard, Judy and husband Ron Rahmig of Gering, and Kathy Propp of Gering; and his “grand pup” Chewy. He is also survived by Jennifer Nichols of Scottsbluff, the mother of their children, and her parents, Carl and Caroline Nuss of Bayard, and beloved friends, Greg and Nanette Williams of Mitchell. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. His parents Phillip and Elizabeth Propp, maternal and paternal grandparents, J.P. and Marie Benzel and Conrad and Margaret Propp and sister-in-law, Marlene Propp preceded him in death.
