Lila L Buth, 86 of Scottsbluff, Nebraska passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016 at Regional West Medical Center.
Her memorial service will be held on Monday, October 17, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Craig Collins officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date Olinger Highland Cemetery in Thornton, Colorado. Lila was born in Morrill, NE on December 30, 1929 to James and Marie (Shofstall) Varvel. She graduated from Morrill High School in 1947 and took courses for two years at Barnes School of Commerce in Denver, CO. She learned skills there that allowed her the opportunity to establish a long career with Mountain Bell. Beginning in the steno pool, she worked her way through higher positions and ended her career in a management position. When she retired after 34 years of service, Mountain Bell had become a part of AT&T. One of the proudest accomplishments of her career was the development of rating system guide which was published and distributed throughout the entire Bell Telephone System.
She married Walter Gaiser in 1950. After his death she married his best friend Albert H. Buth.
Survivors include her son Jeffrey (Cynde) Gaiser of Scottsbluff, NE, step son David (Margaret Tome) Buth of Tucson, AZ, step daughter-in-law Susan Buth and grandson Jeremy Buth of Lakewood, CO and sister-in-law Gladys Wait of Sioux Falls, SD.
Preceding her in death were her husband Walter Gaiser and Albert Buth, her step son Craig Buth, her brother Gene Varvel and her parents Jim and Marie Varvel.
