

Lois Jean Dobbs, 62, of Scottsbluff, passed away Friday, June 30th at her home. At her request, cremation has taken place at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory in Scottsbluff. A graveside memorial service will be held Friday, July 7, at 10:00am at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering with Pastor Ron Nuss-Warren officiating. She was born Aug 11, 1943 in Lebanon, SD to Fred and Zoa (Mahoney) Gross. Her family moved to Sturgis where she received her education. She moved to Rapid City, SD where she married John R. Gray and to that marriage one son was born. After divorcing she moved to the Scottsbluff-Gering area where she worked as a waitress in many different cafés. She later married Vern Dobbs and they owned and operated D&M Diesel for many years. She worked at the Gaslight until ill health caused her retirement in 2005. She was a member of the Eagle’s Lodge, Moose Lodge, VFW and American Legion. She enjoyed camping, traveling, gambling and working with people. She is survived by her son John (DeDe) Gray of Scottsbluff, sister Zoa Burton of Gering, grandchildren Jordyn and Karsyn, step grandchildren Levi and Lacie all of Scottsbluff, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband Vern E. Dobbs, infant son Wesley Dean, parents, sisters Alice and Betty, brothers Ed and Gail preceded her in death.
