

Loretta Faye Pierce, 74, formerly of Scottsbluff passed away Sunday, November 29, 2009 at Harris Methodist Hospital in Ft. Worth, Texas. Her funeral service will be held on Friday, December 4, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with Pastor Brad Gustafson officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Broadwater. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the chapel with family present from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church, 209 South Bluebonnet Street, Saginaw, Texas. Loretta was born on August 5, 1935 in Broadwater, Nebraska to Elmer and Nettie (Six) Walter. She graduated from Broadwater High School, and then attended Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Denver, CO. Her nursing career spanned from 1958 to 2000 in several different fields of nursing, many of which were in long term geriatric care in Colorado, California and Nebraska. In 2000, she retired from Nebraska Veterans Home in Scottsbluff. She moved to Saginaw, Texas in 2003. She married Phillip Blackmore April 11, 1959 in Broadwater, NE. To this union two daughters were born, Kathryn and Robin. Phillip passed away in 1974. She later married Robert Pierce February 20, 1983 in Las Vegas, NV. Robert passed away in 1996. Loretta was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. She enjoyed all kinds of beauty whether made by God or man. She loved crafting and handiwork and many types of music. But most of all loved her family. “Joi de vivre” (the love of life). Survivors include her daughters, Kathryn L. Blackmore and her special friend Fred Reales of Saginaw, TX and Robin and Rev. Lance Clay of McCook, NE.; grandsons, Phillip and Talon Clay; brother and sister-in-law Lawrence and Irma Walter, and niece Laura and husband Shelby Aaberg and nephew Craig and wife Lisa Walter all of Gering, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Nettie Walter, husbands Phillip Blackmore and Robert Pierce.
