

Lyda L. Styskal, 87, of Scottsbluff, died Thursday, August 24, 2006 at Regional West Medical Center. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 28, 2006 at Plymouth Congregational Church with Pastor Rod Wetzig officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Plymouth Congregational Church or to Regional West Medical Center Auxiliary. Lyda was born April 19, 1919 in Gering, NE to Henry G. and Amelia (Loose) Gritzfeld. She attended Gering schools graduating from Gering High School. She was trained as a medical assistant. She married Joe J. Styskal February 18, 1945 in Scottsbluff, NE. They lived in Lincoln before moving to Scottsbluff. Lyda was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church. Her passions were her family, antiques, reading, walking, playing Bridge, German cooking and traveling to be with family. She volunteered many hours at her church as well as the hospital auxiliary. Lyda cherished her family and friends. She loved planning and hosting holiday gatherings. She was an awesome mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and dear friend to many. She is survived by her loving sister and life-long best friend: Amelia Wagner-Fuehrer of Scottsbluff; dear son and daughter-in-law: Dr. Steve R. and Diane Styskal of Lakewood, WA; loving daughter and son-in-law: Jan and John Tobia of Satellite Beach, FL; always caring and supportive sister-in-law: Patty Gritzfeld of Scottsbluff; adoring grandchildren: John Joseph Tobia, Orlando, FL, Drs. Stephen William and Colleen Tobia of Pittsburgh, PA, Stephen Robert Styskal, Jr. of Woodinville, WA, Brian Thomas Styskal, Baton Rouge, LA, and Jeffrey James Styskal, Los Angeles, CA; and great granddaughter: Taylor Tobia of Orlando, FL. Her parents, husband and siblings, Charles, Robert, Henry, Katherine, Esther and Ruth preceded her in death. Lyda was greatly loved and will be missed.
