

Maureen was born on September 13, 1936, in Bayard, Nebraska, to Earl Thomas Walker and Mary Eugenia (Jeffries) Walker. She lived in the Bayard/Bridgeport area most of her life. She attended school District #14 and District #73. Maureen graduated from Bayard High School in 1954. She attended Nebraska Western College (now WNCC), Hiram Scott College and graduated from Chadron State College (Cum Laude) with a Bachelor of Science degree. She later earned college hours from Kearney State and the University of Nebraska.
During her high school years Maureen worked at Bayard Clothing. Maureen began her teaching career at various rural schools including South District 96, West District 44 and North District 96. After this, she taught in the Bayard School System starting with second grade and finishing her career teaching third grade for a total of 42 years as a teacher. She was a member of the Classroom Teachers of America and a member of the local, state and national teachers associations. She served in various officer positions for the Morrill County Teachers Association.
Maureen was very active in her church being a founding member of the Community Bible Church in Bayard. She served the Church in many capacities including: Sunday school and Bible school teacher, was an AWANA leader, led Bible studies, was a member of the Ladies Missionary Fellowship. She was a past chairperson of the Scottsbluff Christian Business and Professional Women’s Council serving on various committees. She was a member of the Bayard After Five Club. Maureen shared her faith in Christ openly with many people she crossed paths with.
Maureen always expressed her appreciation for the service and care she received at Northfield Vista and Heritage Estates. We want to thank our family and extended family for all their love and support for Mom during this difficult time. Thanks also to all those friends that came to visit mom, delivered flowers/gifts, sent cards and sent text messages, etc.
Maureen is survived by her son Ryan Reiber (Nancy); granddaughters Lindsay, Lauren and Madison; four great grandsons; brother Owen Walker. She is also survived by her extended family Paula Kilthau (Brad), Jeff Reifschneider (Lori), two granddaughters, two grandsons and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Jim Reiber and Kenneth Reifschneider, brothers: Dallas Walker, Don Walker and Gary Walker.
