Maxine R. Baker, 85, of Scottsbluff, died Thursday, May 20, 2010, at Heritage Estates in Gering. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 30, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Heritage Estates Chapel in Gering with family present from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. A memorial graveside service will be held in the Violet Cemetery, in Goshen, Indiana. Cremation was at Sunset Memorial Park Crematory in Scottsbluff. Maxine was born October 10, 1924, at Goshen, Indiana to Charles and Myrtie (Rummel) Burkett. She graduated from the Goshen High School in June 1942 and then from Wayne University of Cosmetology in February 1943. Maxine married Warren L. Baker August 11, 1946, in Goshen, Indiana. She was employed as a bank teller by Salem Bank and Trust Company in Goshen from 1960 to 1979. They moved to Mission, Texas in 1985, then to Gering in 1998 and to Scottsbluff in 2001. Survivors include her husband, Warren Baker; daughter, Linda Williams of Scottsbluff; son, James Baker of Rockford, Illinois; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
