

Richard “Dick” Victor Bernhardt, 71, of rural Bayard, died Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. His funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ted Meter officiating. Interment will follow in the Bayard Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-7 PM on Monday and 9 AM until service time Tuesday at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice. Dick was born November 9, 1943 in Morrill County, Nebraska to Victor and Eleanor (Brening) Bernhardt. He received his early education at Wild Horse District #58, graduating from Bayard High School with the Class of 1962. Dick was confirmed at Hope Congregational Church in Bayard. He farmed in the Bayard area all of his life and worked for DHL for 10 years. He was a member of the Sons of The American Legion in Gering.
Dick enjoyed watching his nephews and great-nephews race their stock cars, traveling with his brother Jerry, and spending time with his nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Dick is survived by his brother Jerry of Bayard; brother and sister-in-law Leroy and Patricia of Scottsbluff; sister-in-law Nancy Bernhardt of Minatare; nieces and nephews Scott, Janel, and Ron (Miranda) all of Scottsbluff, Christi of Oregon, Craig (Cindy) of Butte, MT, Brian (Tanya) of Minatare, and Candace (Jesse) Frey of Sheridan Lake, CO; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, infant brother Eddie, brother Randy, and numerous aunts and uncles.
