

Robert Lee Hinze, 62, of Gering, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at the VA Medical Center in Grand Island. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 28, 2011, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with the Reverend Richard Neugebauer officiating. Interment will follow at the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery in Alliance, Nebraska. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m on Sunday, March 27, 2011, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff. Bob was born on September 27, 1948, in Torrington, WY to Clayton and Betty Hinze. He attended school in Torrington and graduated from Torrington High School in 1967. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged on February 9, 1971, after serving for 3 years with 10 months of service in Viet Nam. He started his career in broadcasting as a disc jockey at KGOS Radio in Torrington. Later he went to work as a disk jockey and engineer at KOLT Radio in Scottsbluff. After several years, Bob established his own engineering business and serviced several radio stations in a Tri-State area. Bob married Becky Cook on September 21, 1973, and they had two children, Trevor and Cody. Bob was an avid radio control airplane and helicopter pilot and helped to organize and also serve as an officer of the Platte Valley RCer’s. He was also an Associate Member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics. Survivors include his son Trevor and wife Rachel and their three children Jazmine, Madison and Braden, of Lincoln, NE and son Cody and wife Samantha of Eaton Rapids, MI. He is also survived by his sister Linda Beaty and husband Milt of Santa Fe, NM, brother Jack Hinze and wife Mary Beth of Tempe, AZ and former wives Becky Romick and Stacy McCoy. Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
