Shirley J. Lacy

Shirley J. Lacy passed away June 29, 2016 at Heritage Estates in Gering, NE. A memorial service will be at 2pm on Friday, July 29, 2016 at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel with Rev. Karen Anderson officiating. Inurnment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Memorials have been established to St. Jude Hospital or National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Shirley was born December 20, 1933 in Scottsbluff to Vincent Priest and Oda (Hinman) Priest. She graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1952. She married Harvey Lacy, June 6, 1954. To this union two daughters were born, Vicky & Kari.

Shirley worked for United Telephone Company for over 20 years as a telephone operator, retiring in 1992.

She was member of the Scottsbluff Elks Lodge #1367. She also was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan. She liked watching a variety of sports. She liked gardening and had a lovely yard and home. She enjoyed going to coffee and shopping with her friends and daughters. She loved to laugh and really enjoyed talking and joking around with her brother John. Most of all she was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughters and their families, Vicky and Rick Gable of Gering and their son Garrett Gable and his girlfriend Brianna Twohig of Fort Collins, CO and their daughter Mandi and husband Brian and their children Haley, Sierra, and Ben of Bayard. Kari and Wayne Denning and their daughter Tarin Gilleland and husband Paul and their sons, Bryan, Grayson and Isaiah and son Shayne and wife Sheena and their son Sylas all of Eau Claire, WI. Brother, John Priest and his wife Eloise of Fort Collins, CO. Sister-in-laws, Glenda Lacy of Scottsbluff and Claudia Taylor of Scottsbluff. Brothers-in-law, Gordon Lacy of Gering and Gene and wife Janie Lacy of Texas, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harvey, brothers Dayton (Pat), Frank and Dick, sisters Stella (John) and Eleanor (Carroll) and brother-in-law, Bob Lacy.
