Her memorial service will be 10:00 am, Friday, February 14, 2025, at Dugan Kramer, 3201 Ave B, Scottsbluff, NE 69361.
Wilda was born December 20, 1942, to Ardeth and Lois Lowry. She was second oldest of 5 siblings. She lived most all her life in Scottsbluff where she received her education. After graduation she meet and married Bill Britthouer on January 20, 1960, to this union they had one daughter Jackie. They made their home in Scottsbluff and became foster parents to many young children. They later adopted a son Timothy, and still taking care of children. Later Bill and Wilda divorced after 33 years together. She then began working North American Van Lines as a packer. She would help clean her sisters-in-law shop and doing house cleaning jobs.
She loved baking and was famous for her homemade German chocolate cake and potato salad. She also loved doing puzzles and crosswords in her spare time. Her house was the hub for grandkids which they enjoyed her abundance of Disney movies. One year she sewed Barbie clothes for all the neighborhood girls.
Later in life Wilda ended up having her aortic valve replaced. A few years later she became a kidney transplant recipient. She continued to work up until 2016 when she had a stroke which put her in the care of Mitchell Care Center until her death.
Wilda is survived by her daughter Jackie (Bernhardt) husband Todd Wilkinson of Morrill son Tim Britthouer; grandkids Daniell (David) Fertig, Levi (Lacy) Bernhardt, Dakota and Justin Britthouer, Amanda Mores, Alex (Shailee) Moris, Alex Fletcher; great grandkids Jazzy and Maddy Garner, Caden Lewis and Coy Bernhardt; sister Patty Johnson, Priscilla (Bill) Davis; brother Alton (Betty) Lowry, Karl Lowry, Larry (Rita) Lowry.
She is preceded by her parents, ex-husband, and son-in-law Rick Bernhardt.
