William Lee Benzel

William was born on December 5, 1947, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, the son of Ben and Loretta Benzel, Bill grew up in the Scottsbluff area. His early education was in Minatare, Hillcrest County School, and Scottsbluff High School where he played tennis and graduated in 1966.

After graduation, Bill attended Scottsbluff Junior College (now WNCC). He then was employed with Magnolia Mobile Homes and Lockwood Corporation until he and his father began a custom-farming service for area farmers. He and his father then purchased farms in the Stegall area. Upon the death of his father, Bill continued to farm their property.

He was a life-long member of Salem Congregational Church and a co-head deacon. He was devoted to his love of God, his family and farming.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Doug Strauch.

He is survived by his brother, Ben (Karen) of Florida and sister, Debra Strauch of Scottsbluff, nephews Randy (Alena) Benzel, Russ Benzel and niece Renee (Brian) Bernhard all of Colorado, nephew Hunter (Bev) Strauch of Scottsbluff and nieces Megan Hanshew of California and Heidi Strauch (Stewart Clawson) of Scottsbluff. He is also survived by several great nieces and nephews and one great, great nephew and one great, great niece and many cousins.
