Billy L. Nabors, 82, of Dallas, Texas, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 11, 1943, in Whitesboro, Texas, to Lloyd Nabors and Novella Jones, and was one of seven children: Eugene, Betty Laverne, Gerald Wayne (“Butch”), Clyde Ovie, Joe Samuel, and Leroy. Raised in Dallas from humble beginnings, Billy built a life, a family, and a company that reflected his faith, grit, and deep love for people.
At sixteen, Billy married the love of his life, Joan, on November 16, 1959, beginning a 66-year marriage rooted in God, loyalty, and laughter. Together they raised five children and built a close-knit family that always knew they were loved and prayed for. Their home was a gathering place where kids, grandkids, and friends were welcomed like family. They would ride four-wheelers, shoot BB guns, and play with fireworks.
Billy was a pioneer in the demolition industry and the founder of Billy L. Nabors Demolition. With hard work, integrity, a reputation for quality, and a fearless work ethic, he helped shape skylines across North Texas. He and Joan built their company the same way they built their home life—side by side, trusting God—with trucks proudly bearing the slogans “We Could Wreck the World” and “Jesus Saves.” Billy’s employees, colleagues, and co-workers knew and expected to hear Billy say, “Where’s my hug?” and “Has anyone told you they love you today? Well, I love you.”
To everyone who knew him, Billy was a hero in everyday clothes (usually bright colored). He was magnetic and really funny, with a gift for making people feel seen and important the moment they met him. He loved to tell stories, sing, whistle, and “be a clown.” People were drawn to him, and once you were in his orbit, you wanted to stay.
More than anything, Billy loved Jesus. His faith shaped how he worked, how he treated people, and how he led his family. He and Joan rooted their marriage, their parenting, and their business in their belief that God is faithful.
Billy is preceded in death by his parents; his siblings Gene, Betty, and Butch; and his granddaughter, LaRae, whom he deeply loved and raised as his own. He is survived by his devoted wife, Joan, who often heard him say as he looked around at his giant family surrounding the kitchen while praying before each meal, “Honey, can you believe we are responsible for all this?” He leaves five children, sixteen grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren. His children are Billie JoAnn and husband Jack Routt; Lloyd Daniel and wife Kelly Nabors; Kathy and husband Jerry Armstrong; Felicia and husband George Gomez; and Christi and husband Keith McCoy.
“Papa” loved all his “Buu-fil Buu-fil babies”: grandchildren LaRae Shepherd; Tim Shepherd; Steven Nabors; Krista and husband Nathan Dick; Kara and husband Danny Dotson; Colton and wife Faith Nabors; Clayton Nabors; Mackenzie Crowell; Sam Crowell; Christopher and wife Sara Armstrong; Jeremy and wife Amanda Armstrong; Heather and husband Joe Jones; Hannah Gomez; Caradee and husband Gregory Jr. Shields; Tres and Emma Gomez; Noah Gomez; and Vail Carter.
His nineteen great-grandchildren are Trevor Shepherd, Cooper Shepherd, Saxton Nabors, Skylar Nabors, Seldyn Nabors, Stolli Nabors, Keller Dotson, Ryder Dotson, Wyatt Dotson, Wells Nabors, Brady Armstrong, Hunter Armstrong, Aaron Armstrong, Allison Armstrong, Connor Jones, Riley Jones, Madison Jones, Grayson Shields, and Grady Shields.
