David was born in Dallas, Texas to Lora Mae (Cadie) and Alva Talley. He had three brothers, Kenneth Talley, Henry Talley and Donnie Woodlee, and one sister, Betty Self.
In his late teens, David met Rosemary Shropshire. It was love at first sight for him, and after many unrelentless visits, Rosemary finally gave in (her mom thought he was wonderful) and they were married 65 years at her time of passing. They started a family, complete with two children. Being a kind, dependable, and hardworking father was of the utmost importance to David and he certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving his family.
David attended school at Pleasant Grove High School. He worked many years at Brake and Clutch before accepting a job offer from DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) where he worked in the bus maintenance group, Oak Cliff division, until his retirement.
Although he had a long battle, he always kept his upbeat sense of humor from making faces, telling jokes to everyone he met, and teasing his family and friends every chance he got. Though he had to spend most of his time in bed, he made sure he not only could be next to the hallway where he could see and hear everything, but also beside a window so he could enjoy all of God’s wonders. David was an avid sports enthusiast. He loved watching wrestling, the Dallas Cowboys and his favorite, the Texas Rangers. He loved attending church and never missed a Sunday if he was able.
While his presence and laughter will be missed by his family and friends, there is a comfort that he is now spending eternity with the love of his life, Rosemary and his son, David, who both preceded him in death, and his ever-faithful Lord.
David is survived by his daughter, Diana Shields and husband, John; granddaughter, Tabatha Williams; grandsons Michael Talley and wife, Betty Jo and Brian Pruitt and wife, Kelly; great-grandchildren, Jailyn, Blaze, Bronson and Evie; sister-in-law Cheri Keene and husband, Michael; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in passing by wife, Rosemary Talley, his son, David Talley, Jr., his mother, Lora Mae Woodlee, his father, Alva Talley, and all of his siblings.
A graveside service will be held at Roselawn Funeral Home in Seagoville, Texas on Friday, March 29 at 2:00 p.m.
