Eugene Dryden, of Salt Flat, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026, in Lancaster, Texas. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him as a devoted father, proud grandfather, and honored veteran.
Eugene was born on October 18, 1932, in Cleburne County, Alabama, to Luther and Mabel Dryden. Over the years, he built a life defined by hard work, independence, and a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures found outdoors.
A proud United States Army veteran and a Texan at heart, Eugene found great joy in country living. He had a natural connection to the land and especially enjoyed horse husbandry and homesteading. Many of his happiest moments were spent outdoors, tending to the things he loved while a classic country song played nearby.
Above all, Eugene valued family. He is survived by his daughters, Ana Maria Duran and Chelsea Dryden, and his son, Clayton Dryden. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Odin Richardson; twins Audriana Duran and Conrad Duran; and Isabella Duran, each of whom brought him great pride and joy.
Eugene’s legacy is one of quiet strength, love for family, and a life lived close to the land he cherished. He will be remembered with affection by those whose lives he touched.
May he now rest where the skies are wide, the land is open, and a good country song is never far away
