Gene was born Gene Paul Lewis, May 24, 1930 in Drew, Mississippi. After graduating High School in Memphis, he attended Memphis State and was a cheerleader for 2 years where he met his wife of 67 years. He married Jane P. Lewis in Tunica, MS, March 1, 1952. He also served 2 years in the Air Force during the Korean War.
He is survived by his four children. Paul (Mary Sue) Lewis, Pam (Ted) Novak, Ray Lewis and Joel (Cathy) Lewis. Grandchildren, Chris, Jason and Priscilla Novak, MaryJane (Jasen) Hicks, Michael (Kathryn) Lewis, Michael (Karen) Manrose, Steve (Amber) Manrose and Sloane Caldwell. Great grandchildren, Haley Burns, Jakob Hicks, Iris Jane Lewis, Andrew, Abbie, Sam, Levi, Timothy, Naomi, Amber, Paiton and Hayden (Marie) Manrose. Great great - grandchild, Anthony Manrose. Gene is preceded by his parents Paul and Mary Lewis.
His greatest joy was his family.
A visitation for Gene will be held Friday, May 17, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home. A funeral service will occur Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 2:00 PM. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133.
