Gurvis better known as Dwight is preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife Doloras Smith, brother Clarence Everett and sister Nellie Vernott.
Dwight is survived by his children, Tracy Stewart and husband John of Terrell, Texas, Terry Smith of Lake Tawakoni, Amanda Bowdoin and husband David of Forney, Texas, sisters; Shirley Penny and Vickie Hunker, brothers; Frankie Smith and C.E. Smith, grandchildren; Olivia Bowdoin, J.D. Bowdoin, Shaun Smith and Jonathan Griffin and a host of nieces, nephews and other beloved family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Dwight Smith was a son, brother, uncle, father and a friend to so many. He grew up in a big family and spent his adulthood as a Master Plumber for City Wide and later Longhorn Smith Plumbing Company. He enjoyed being outside especially fishing at Cedar Creek Lake or the Gulf Coast . He loved each of his children and would spend time with them making memories such as Bowling, Tae Kwon Do and Music. His love and talent for music helped him develop his band traveling to different clubs for all to hear.
He always made sure you were there for a laugh and would do anything for you with him telling you a story.
A visitation for Gurvis will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home. A funeral service will occur Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 10:00 AM. He will be laid to rest by his wife at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in the Court of Valley View following the service.
