Mr. John Halbert Watkins

John H. Watkins 95, of Seagoville, Texas went home to the Lord on September 17, 2016. He was born in Forney, Texas on August 28, 1921 to Dr. A.B. Watkins and Kathleen Halbert Watkins. John proudly served his country with honors in the U.S. Army during WWII. He faithfully served God his entire life. He was a deacon in the Seagoville Church of Christ and served as the church treasurer for many years. John enjoyed fixing things and carpentry work. He built much of the furniture he and his family used within the walls of the home he also built. He also enjoyed playing dominos and having his family around him. He is preceded in death by his parents; his devoted wife of nearly 60 years, Merle Lula Johnson Watkins and his brother A.B. Watkins Jr.. Left with cherished memories is his son John H. Watkins Jr. & wife Beth, son Gregory K. Watkins & wife Susan, son Timothy W. Watkins; grandson Anthony J. Watkins & wife Katie; grandson Russell P. Watkins; granddaughter Laura E. Toles & husband Jon; grandson Nathan S. Watkins & wife Amber; grandson Aaron K. Watkins; grandson Drew R. Watkins & wife Katie; granddaughter Lacy E. Threadgill & husband Matthew; 4 great grandchildren; brother Tom Watkins and many other family loved ones and beloved friends. The family will receive friends at a visitation 6-8pm Wednesday September 21, 2016 at Roselawn Funeral Home, Seagoville, Texas. Funeral Service will be 10:00am Thursday September 22, 2016 at Seagoville Church of Christ. Interment will be 11:15 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Seagoville, Texas where John will be laid to rest beside his loving wife Merle in the Garden of Scriptures. Military honors will be rendered.
