June V. Parish

It's with a heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of June Parish (June 7, 1934 - August 17, 2020). June was the wife of Gene Parish, who were two of the four founding charter members of LSHSRA in 1975, alongside two great friends, Billie and Bud Ogletree. June is preceded in death by Gene in March 2017. June and Gene loved horses, rodeo, and children and found a need for an organization that would cater to, at that time, high school age children. Gene and June knew the expense to rodeo could be more than most families and children could afford, so they would provide assistance with animals, support, training, education, and community of friends and family. June and Gene started the Skyline Rodeo Team, sponsored by the DISD Skyline High School, Dallas, TX. June would assist with secretary duties, bookkeeping, and awards and event organization, while Gene would assist with operational aspects of the events. June and Gene's own children competed/assisted in Lone Star, including Bill, Mike, Russell, and Doug Rickman and Stacy Parish, along with numerous grandchildren.

June was born June 7, 1934 to Marvin Marion Virdell and Velma Ruth Hill Virdell in Lohn, TX and passed away on August 17, 2020. She is preceded in death by husband, Gene Parish, son, Andrew Russell Rickman, Sr., siblings, Beverly Osborne, Odell Hobbs, John Virdell, Gayle Baxter and Ann Deeds.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children: Billy Wayne Rickman, Jr. and wife, Lynn, Michael Lee Rickman and wife, Gay, Douglas Eugene Rickman and wife, Cathey and Stacy Lynn Parish; 15 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews that were very near and dear to her heart, as well as many "adopted" grandkids through the High School Rodeo Association.
