Linda was born on January 29, 1947, in Dallas, Texas, to William “Mack” and Iva Delle Watts. She spent many years in Seagoville, Texas, before later settling in the Kaufman area.
Linda was a woman of strong spirit and quiet determination. After retiring from a 25-year career with AT&T, she followed a longtime dream and became a cosmetologist. She owned and operated Linda’s Beauty Salon in Seagoville, where she welcomed generations of clients and became a familiar, much-loved part of the community.
When the physical demands of hairdressing became too much, Linda found a new way to share her gift for connecting with people. She went on to train telemarketers at MasterCraft Roofing, where her charismatic personality quickly made her a favorite. She was deeply loved by the owner, Jason Crowsey, and remained a cherished employee from 2011 until her health began to decline a few years ago.
Her faith was the foundation of her life. Linda loved Jesus with all her heart and lived that love daily. She was a longtime member of Bethel Baptist Church in Seagoville and later attended Longcreek Baptist Church in Sunnyvale and The Jesus House–Kaufman.
Linda loved caring for the people around her. She was always cooking for her family and spent countless hours crocheting special pieces for those she loved. Her greatest joy was her family. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was proudly known as “Granny” and never missed an opportunity to talk about her “babies.”
She is survived by her children: Thomas Ray Cleere, Jr. of Seagoville; Tonya Sims and husband James of Scurry; Tammy Handley of Mabank; and Tanya Bain and husband Jay of Emory. She is also survived by her sisters, Judy Cole and Norma Horcher and husband Bill; several nieces and nephews; her beloved grandchildren and their spouses: Brittaney Gant, Maegan Dixon, Heather Sanderson, Jordan Land, Autumn Ragsdale, Wesley Kannady, Courtney Kannady, Haley Handley, Mallory Handley, Ashley Murray, Eric Bain, MaKyla Phillips, Evan Bain, and Madison Mullen; and many treasured great-grandchildren.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, William “Mack” and Iva Delle Watts; her son-in-law, Roy Handley; and her nephew, Carl Davis.
