Roy, better known as Eddie, was born to Arthur and Evelyn Gothard on August 2, 1947. Eddie was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. In his early twenties, Eddie started working for his uncle Joe at the cleaners and later on took over the business. After some time of running the cleaners, he closed it down and started working for Kaufman County. He worked there as a road maintenance crew member for many years until he retired.
Eddie had numerous hobbies including hunting, fishing, collecting guns and working on cars. He was a person that could not sit still. Even after retirement, he'd always have something to tinker on. While Eddie had many titles (like brother, son, uncle and nephew), husband and father were the greatest ones he held. Eddie was a family-oriented man who loved his kids and his wife, whom he always called "his angel". Eddie was a hard worker, a provider and had strong core Christian values. He had a goofy sense of humor and definitely lived up to his nicknames of Jethro and Uncle Monkey, and he was never a stranger to anyone he met.
Eddie is preceded in death by his father, Arthur Leroy Gothard; mother, Jamie Evelyn Gothard; and brother, James Lynn Gothard.
Eddie is survived by his wife, Vickie Gothard; step-son, David Fisher; daughter, Angela Spencer; son, Aaron Gothard; brother, Donald Gothard; sister, Deborah Hefley; and numerous grandchildren, as well as extended family and friends.
