24, 2018. She was the youngest of four children born to
Hampton and Etta (nee, Williams) Ervin.
She was born in Hartsville SC, Nov 13, 1929. Juanita is
predeceased by her parents and husband of 43 years, Fred
D. Tardy; a son James E. ‘Jimmy’ Tardy; sisters Elizabeth
Welsh and Welene, and brother William Ervin, and a special
niece Victoria E. Williams.
Juanita left South Carolina at an early age to expand her
horizons settling in El Paso, TX. While there she met the
love of her life, Fred Tardy, a solider stationed at Ft. Bliss
and were married in 1954. Together they traveled far and
wide but finally settling in Seaside, CA in 1959. Juanita
was a gourmet cook who loved to entertain. She retired
as Head Cook at the restaurant atop Holman’s Department
Store. She also worked for MPUSD in the food service
department. Juanita also volunteered at Oldermyer Center
in Seaside. She and Fred were very civic minded and both
active in the community. She was a member of Hay’s CME
church and also a member of the Seaside chapter of the
Kiwanians Club. She received several awards and accommodations.
Juanita leaves to cherish her memory, daughter-in law
Barbara Tardy, Moodus CT; grandsons David Tardy,
Moodus CT, Nathan ‘Nate’ Tardy, Oxford OH; one great
grandson Jacob Tardy, Moodus, CT; niece Sara V. Tardy,
Raleigh, NC., Valarie Butler, Willimasport PA., Michele
Ervin Philadelphia, PA., a special friend, JoAnn Burns,
Seaside CA., the Welsh families, a host of nieces, nephews,
cousins and friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Richard King, the
staff of both Anjelica’s Villa, Hospice/VNA for all you
did for making Juanita’s transition both comfortable and
peaceful.
