Patty, as she was known to her family, or Candy, as she was called by her friends, was a fun-loving, straight-talking, strong woman. Daughter of Arthur and Eleanor Soto, she was born and grew up in Watsonville, California. She attended Freedom School till the 4th grade, finished grade school at Notre Dame, and graduated in the class of 1961 from Mora High School.
She went on to work 18 years with Wells Fargo in this area and at the Hollywood and Vine branch. She took on the management of two Seaside bars and, in retirement, worked with Alliance on Aging.
She enjoyed gambling on slot machines in Laughlin. She found playing darts competitively a pleasure and joined the Monterey Dart League which kept her involved for many years. She then volunteered to oversee the management of the league stats and player placement while continuing her competition play. She loved her football team, the Denver Broncos, and rooted for her guy, John Elway.
She joyfully married Henry Murphree (ret. Master Sergeant) in 1997 and became step-mom to Ellis, Trey, and Rebecca. Sadly, Henry (Murph) her loving husband, passed in 2007. She leaves behind her brother, Arthur Soto, and sister, Alice Soto; her nephews, Arthur Jr. (Javaneh) and Darren (Jyothi) and niece, Ann Cooke (Hiram;) her grandnieces and grandnephews, Sarina, Sophia, Arthur Nader, and Sebastian. Her companion pet “Lady” has a new home with cousin Yvonne Perry (John.)
She is well loved and will be missed. May she rest securely in God’s love and mercy.
