Stephen Sumler

Steve was born on October 29, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois and grew up in Springfield, Massachusetts. He was a retired Sergeant First Class in the United States Army and was also a retired Assistant Chief of Police in Menlo Park. He settled in Marina, CA with his family in 1988. He was predeceased by his parents Stephen & Eleanor, and brother Joseph. Steve is survived by his wife Barbara Sumler, daughter Stephanie Sumler, son Stephen Sumler III, grandson Theodore Sumler, and siblings Carol, Joyce, Jimmy, and Johnny. Steve enjoyed fishing at the Monterey Fisherman’s Wharf with his family and friends. There will be a viewing on Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 4:00pm-8:00pm with a rosary at 6:00pm, at The Bayside Community Mortuary at 1610 Noche Buena St, Seaside, CA. Family request donations be sent to the Department of Veterans Affairs in lieu of flowers.
