Amelita “Mely” Trosset, age 70, of Seattle, Washington, was called to God on April 9, 2025. Mely was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, and friend to all. She was born in 1954 to Roberto and Ascunsion Caramba in Bacolod City, Philippines. Mely was the youngest of eight siblings, some of whom have preceded her in death. Mely is survived by several other siblings, nieces and nephews, and her three children: Robert, Brenda, and Richard.
From a young age, Mely lived a life devoted to caring for others. She earned her nursing degree from Philippine Women’s University and began a career of service and healing. After moving to the United States in 1979, she transitioned into home health and nursing assistant work. Mely worked tirelessly to provide a good life for her children. Her steadfast dedication to her family and work were seen and felt by all. She is the picture of bravery and the American dream. Despite the demands of work and motherhood, Mely always found joy in life’s simple pleasures– especially shopping. She had a talent for picking out thoughtful gifts for friends and family. Her nieces and nephews could count on being surprised with envelopes of money, handed out with a smile and no special occasion needed. Her generosity touched everyone around her. And no family gathering was complete without her arriving with an assortment of desserts. Mely valued memories and togetherness and loved to take photos. Her family is grateful for the photos that captured smiles, milestones, and everyday moments that now serve as cherished reminders of her love and presence.
Mely’s greatest pride and lasting legacy are her three children. She instilled in them the values of compassion, perseverance, humility, and above all, unconditional love. She spoke of her children often and with such joy, sharing their stories and accomplishments with friends, coworkers, and even her hairdresser, who came to know each of them by name and detail. Although a mothers precious love can never be replaced, her spirit will forever live within her children.
Her laughter and jubilant voice will forever echo in our hearts and memories. While Mely is survived by a loving family, she is truly survived by everyone her beautiful spirit touched.
