Ann graduated from Columbia High School, Richland, Washington in 1949. She married Mel Thompson and they relocated to Pullman, Washington for his education and football play at Washington State University. After graduation the family followed her husband’s football coaching career and moved to Othello, Washington, then to Kennewick, onto Ellensburg and finally to Redmond. The fact that the town’s names equal P.O.K.E.R. was not a mystical prophecy, just a family source of humor.
Ann is survived by her three children and their spouses, Mel Jr & Leslee, Mike & Sydney and Teri & Jim Presser, and six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, her younger brother Bill Wann, his wife Anita and numerous nieces and nephews. She joins her husband, Mel and grandson, Nick who predeceased her.
Golf was a favorite of hers and she was proud that she introduced her grandchildren to the sport that they enjoy as much as she did.
Ann was always busy and always finding ways to make things run more smoothly from her bookkeeping skills to hosting family holiday get-togethers and family wedding receptions. Having a football coach for a husband she often entertained players and coaches and their families. Now in heaven she will be busy helping to reorganize things up there.
Ann continued to work well into her eighties and volunteered for both her Richland High School Alumni association and for the Lake City Shoreline Elks Club. She was honored to be the State President for the Elk’s Emblem Club and enjoyed her time traveling across the state and meeting the other members.
The family extends its deepest gratitude to her caregivers at Madison House, Assisted Living in Kirkland, Washington and to the friends and family who never stopped showing up for her with love in her final years.
