Arlette Levy was born in Sarrebourg, France, on 2/6/26 and died on 2/25/2018. She survived WWII and was working for the US Army as a translator when she was seen across a room by Army Sargent Eldon Tompkins who told his friend that he was going to marry this beautiful woman…..and did. Their first daughter, Frances, was born in Heidelberg, Germany. The family returned to the States in 1948 and were stationed at Fort Lewis where Michelle was born; daughter Vicki was born at Fort Lawton. They settled in Ballard with military assignments in Virginia and Illinois from 1957-1961. Arlette was a strong woman who endured separations from Eldon in the early 50s during the Korean War, and later in 1961, when Eldon was stationed in France without the family. Arlette had a career in Banking as well as later working in retail at Littler’s. She volunteered for UNICEF and other organizations during her lifetime, and was a member and past officer of Alliance Francaise. She was always tres chic as she was French.
Arlette was preceded in death by her husband in 2007 and by her grandson, Greg Minerich in 2012. She is survived by Frances; Michelle; Vicki (Lee); grandsons Collier Minerich and Andrew Minerich (Adelle); granddaughter Nicole Shema (Micah Smith); and 4 great grandchildren – Layla, Julia and Lucas Minerich and Camille Smith.
