passed away peacefully at her home on October 31, 2020, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in the City of Lipa in the Province of Batangas, Philippines in 1930, Aurora enjoyed a
successful career as a high school Economics teacher. Having met her husband, Romeo while
teaching, they were married in 1957, after which they started a family and raised their children in
Manila until moving to the U.S. - first Romeo in 1968, followed by Aurora and the children in
1970. They settled in the community of Ballard in Seattle, where they became longtime
residents. While she thrived in a second career at Key Bank for over twenty years, Aurora
primarily dedicated herself to supporting her husband and children, providing a warm and loving
home environment, ensuring all their needs were met.
Throughout the years, Romeo and Aurora enjoyed traveling together, having visited Europe,
New York, Hawaii - even going back "home" to the Philippines, which always held a special
place in her heart.
Ever organized and skilled at juggling home and career simultaneously, Aurora took yet a third
job after retiring from Key Bank, working part-time at Fred Meyer for over twelve years. She
then devoted herself to caring for her dear husband until his passing in 2014. They prospered
in a lifetime loving marriage for 56 ½ years.
Aurora was fulfilled by watching her children grow and succeed, and particularly delighted in
spending many happy times with her grandchild Emily, who was the "apple of her eye". She
was a soft-spoken, yet firm, woman who was well-loved by her dear friends and adoring family.
Aurora will be sadly missed by those who survive her, including daughter Romela, son Romeo, Jr (wife Adina), son Arnold (wife Maya, daughter Emily), multiple nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She also leaves behind a sister, Linda M. Recio of Florissant, Missouri. She was predeceased by husband Romeo and daughter Amanda.
Private services will be held. For questions, please contact Butterworth Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Aurora Solomon’s honor to a charity of your choice.
