Mr. Chedalawada was such a wise, kind, and caring man, in fact hard to describe in mere words. He was such a good mentor to me when we taught together at Sligo School in Takoma Park, Maryland. As a teacher, he was always so calm and patient and forgiving. I know he was very proud of his daughter Cynthia and son Alan, and their many accomplishments. I remember many wonderful times spent with the Chedalawada family at their home in Maryland, and helping Alan move into his first house (at such a young age!) Alan, you inspired me to get my townhouse 🙂 I've been praying for Mrs. Chedalawada, Cynthia, Alan, and family. May God hold you all extra close, remind you of His love and promise to return and take us home. May good memories of Mr. Ched comfort you. With love to the family, Ron

Dear family,
Your dad and mom met so much to the DuPont Park School family. He was my cherished math teacher from 6-10th grade.  He was my homeroom teacher during my 10th grade year. It’s funny the things I remember—having my first Indian meal cooked by your mom when he invited the whole class to his house; realizing that I was mispronouncing Pythagorean theorem only when I got to college ( I had picked up your dad’s accent); becoming a math teacher for 22 years in part because of the influence and love he showed us as a Christian man and teacher. I loved your dad, and will forever cherish his memory and the impact he had on my life. Feel encouraged—his life made a difference.

My sincerest condolences are extended to the  Chedalawada Family. Mr “C” was my teacher in the early 70’s at Dupont Park Adventist  School. He was an excellent instructor and taught with the unique balance of knowledge and compassion. He had a quick smile but knew when to “lay down the law when needed”. We were such a good class (class of ‘73) so he did not need to often 😉. I’ll always remember how he shared letters from home (India) and he invited our class to his home for a taste of Indian Cuisine and his wife dressed us in the traditional Indian garments. This was my first exposure to another culture.  We stayed in touch with him over the years and Facebook and phone calls closed the gap of the 3,000 mile difference. We never got to see him at the Alumni reunions, but we look forward to the greatest reunion when Christ returns for his children. Blessings & comfort to his wife and children, his students at the school in India and all who loved him. May we all resolve to be reunited in heaven on that great day! Until Then…

We loved Mr. “David” as we called him back in those days. He was our homeroom teacher that year and the knowledge of Math and more that he instilled in us is long-lasting. More importantly his quiet Christian demeanor and his passion for his beloved home-land India were heartfelt. He never forgot his students at Dupont and could recall many of us as he reached out to us on social media. I’m sad that he never got to return for Alumni weekend, but we were able to honor him on many occasions and I pray he felt the love.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family. May his soul rest in peace. 
He is the best father, husband, grandfather, a friend, a teacher. and a philanthroper.  His vision was to build a best possible school for the less privileged. I witnessed how best husband he can be to Sarojini aunty, how best teacher he can be to my children, how best friend he can be to me. I have had a fortune of sharing some best moments with uncle and aunty.
