
Upon moving to Seattle, Washington in 1944, Ben united with the Mount Zion Baptist Church, under the pastorialship of the Reverend Dr. Benjamin F. Davis.
Ben enlisted in the United States Navy June 11, 1943 and was honorably discharged on June 8, 1951. Thereafter, he worked at Pier 91 in Seattle, Washington and later transferred to the Bremerton Naval Shipyard, where he continued to work until he retired, with 31 years of combined service time, on June 28, 1974.
Ben was preceeded in death by his loving and devoted wife, Mattie Will Barksdale-Jones, and baby son Ben Jones III, two sisters, Safronia Hicks, and Pastor Annie B. Morrissette, and one brother, Johnny Wilson.
He is survived by two sons, Larry E. Jones Joycelyn, Carl L. Jones Memrey; two daughters, W. Carmen Jones, and Penny M. Jones; six grandchildren, Katrina Jones, Jayson Seraile, Shannon Jones, Makeda Seraile, Jessica Unciano, and Samantha Jones; five great grandchildren; four sisters, Ada B. Baity, Bennie Heart, Viola Lacey, and Bessie Whitting; one sister-in-law, Dortha Jean Bailey, one brother-in-law, Arcelious Bailey, Jr.; a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends to mourn his home coming. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
