He received his RN degree from Bellevue College and worked for many years as a Charge Nurse and in the intensive care unit at Group Health Hospitals, where he made friends with numerous colleagues. He loved the holidays and all things associated with railroads. He traveled extensively on the railway and saw most of the U.S. and Canada. He often spoke of how easy it was to get to sleep on a train, listening to the sound of the rails beneath him.
Brent loved music, NPR, old movies , his cats and most of all, to laugh. Also an avid reader, he maintained a great library of books from the classics to the Academy Awards. His kindness, unpredictable sense of humor and generosity will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

"I did my best, it wasn't much
I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch
I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you
And even though it all went wrong
I'll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah"
