Bruce William Bender

Bruce Bender passed away on August 8, in Seattle, WA. He was born to Bill and Ann Bender on January 20, 1950 in Port Angeles, WA. The family resided in Port Angeles until 1960. Over the course of the next four years the family moved a number of times with brief stays in Spokane and Portland, before finally ending up in Bellevue. Bruce enrolled at Sammamish High School, where he played basketball, baseball, and football. After high school, Bruce spent time at Seattle University, Bellevue Community College, and the University of Washington.

After college, Bruce was employed through a number of jobs before entering the paint retail business. He worked for many of the regional companies, eventually becoming manager of some along the way. Whether it was a contractor or any everyday customer, he made sure to provide the best service. Over the last couple of years you could find Bruce at the Scorecard Bar & Grill. He loved his new business and the friendships he made. He was also able to work on his dart game, which helped him add to his numerous state championships.

Bruce married in Linda Cameron in1974, and had two children, Ryan (1979) and Jason (1982). He was a very loving father who was very supportive in every activity they participated in. He loved coaching their little league teams, always emphasizing the importance of teamwork over winning. When his coaching years were over, you would always find him in the crowd cheering them on, no matter where the game was. The kids and Bruce were also involved in YMCA's Indian Guides. These were some of his favorite times as he was able to bond with his kids while making new friendships with many he still had to this day.

Bruce embraced life with a generous and loving heart. His family and friends will remember him as a loving individual who put others first. He had many hobbies over the years, which included; softball, darts, pool, sports trivia, and anything related to any of the Seattle sports franchises. He will be remembered as a great son, brother, friend, and father.

His father, Bill Bender, preceded Bruce in death. He is survived by his mother Ann, Bellevue; son and his wife Ryan and Brianne Bender and granddaughter Kylie Bender, Lewiston, ID; son Jason Bender, Lake City; sister and brother-in-law Laurie and Jerry Germain, Nordland; brother Scott, Las Vegas. He also leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
