Carol Alice Brown, 68, passed away June 07, 2020 at her home. She was born in La Harpe, Il in 1952 to Richard and Ann Brown. She lived in Dallas City, IL – a tiny town on the Mississippi River, until 1960 when she moved to Seattle with her large family. She grew up in the Wallingford/Greenlake neighborhood and never strayed far from the original family home. Carol graduated Lincoln High School and continued to Burnley School of Professional Art.
Carol is survived by four siblings: Terri (George) Baskett of Seattle, Frances Brown of Renton, Clifton Brown of Seattle and Lisa Brown of Mountlake Terrace. Carol’s pride and joy were ALL of her nieces and nephews - Five nieces: Misty Baskett, Krystal (Chris) Cullison, Kassi Brown, Rebecca Partin and Grace Partin. Three nephews: Matt Baskett, Christopher Brown and Evan Partin. Three grandnieces: Alexis Brown, Nicolette Thomas, Kallie Cullison and Verity Baskett. Two grand nephews Dakota Brown and Derek Cullison and one Great grandnephew Stephen Feris. Not to mention multiple cousins, second cousins and third cousins once removed.
She was predeceased by her parents Richard and Ann Brown and her beloved Nephew Richard Thomas. Carol was also deeply devoted to her feline home companions, most currently Little Bit and Cuddy.
Carol was employed her entire career at Richmark Label Co. beginning while she was still in college and continuing until her retirement in 2017. Her artistic nature lead to a lifelong enjoyment of crafting, sewing and weaving. Her mantra was “She who dies with the most fabric wins": Carol gets the gold medal. Craft shows, black powder rendezvous, camping, time spent with family and any or all of the nieces and nephews kept her happy and busy. She could often be found on the sidelines of sporting events and dance recitals cheering them on. She was a lively member of a group of Lincoln High School alumni called the Lovely Lincoln Ladies. They often participated in camaraderie, lunch and volunteering for vision house.
Our beloved Carol will be remembered by all for her wicked and often irreverent sense of humor, her joy in creating and her love and devotion to her family, both human and feline.
The family will hold a small private burial but her request for a Celebration of Life (read PARTY) with rainbow colors, good food and music shared by friends and family will have to wait until we can gather freely.
If you wish to donate in her name, please consider the NWMS Society, PAWS or Vision House.
