Charles Edward Dean Jr. (Harley Charlie) passed away peacefully at 83 years old, surrounded by his family on September 12, 2023. He was born to Charles Sr. and Catherine Dean on July 24, 1940 in Seattle, WA.
Charles was passionate about his career as a Longshoreman, and his 57 year membership in Local 19 of the ILWU (International Longshore & Warehouse Union) and was also a board member for the Waterfront Credit Union. Charlie had a longtime passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles, which he rode since he was 15 years old. He rode to the Sturgis motorcycle rally for 39 years straight. Charles loved animals and there were many dogs in his life.
Charles is survived by his wife Vicki, whom he met in 1982 and married in 1995; his children: Don, Charles III, and Kerry; step-children: Lisa Stedman, Erika Richardson, Bill Smith, Desiree Welvaert and grandchildren: Dalton, Nicole and Dreonna; step-grandchildren: Shelia Richardson, Paul Stedman, Caroline Garton, step-great-grandchildren Payeden, Tayetum and Wesley Jr., and his sister Marilyn. Charles was preceeded in death by his parents Charles Sr. and Catherine, brother Roderick and twin brother James.
A funeral service will be held on September 29, 2023 at 10:00 am at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church on lower Queen Anne, followed by a procession to the top of Queen Anne Hill to Mt. Pleasant Cemetery for burial.
A celebration of life will be held on October 22, 2023 at 3:00 pm at the White Center Eagles, in West Seattle.
