

CHARLES SCOTT ROWLEY (Scott), born 7/11/1971 in Beaumont, Texas, died 2/29/2016 in Seattle, WA, after a many years long battle with severe and recurrent depression. He graduated from Crestwood High School, Atlanta, GA, in 1989 and received his Bachelor’s Degree in mathematics from Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, NC in 1993, where he was on the Dean’s List for academics. He also received a Masters Degree in computer science in 1996 from Wake Forest University. He has been a resident of Seattle since 1997, and has worked for Boeing, Cascadia College, Amazon and Microsoft, where he was employed at his death. His joy in learning, competing, teaching, leading rehearsals, and occasionally choreographing in ballroom dancing with his friends and colleagues on the USA Dance Seattle Formation Team was a major hobby for him, along with sailing his sailboat Quik Draw in the Puget Sound, Lake Union and Lake Washington area where he was a member of the Seattle Sail and Power Squadron.
Survivors include his parents, Carol and David Rowley of Denton, TX; brother Chris Rowley, sister-in-law Mandy Dake, and nephew Thomas Rowley of Dallas, TX; girlfriend Maryann Kay Watkins; grandmother Alice Stubblefield of Dallas; aunt and uncle Susan and Hollye C. Fisk of Dallas; uncle Russell G. Rowley, Jr. of Palatine, IL; and numerous cousins from coast to coast.
Services will be held at St Peter’s Episcopal Church, 1610 S. King Street, Seattle WA 98144 at 11:00 AM Saturday March 12th. A celebration of life reception will immediately follow the service.
The family suggests donations in Scott’s memory to the University of Washington Medical School in care of UW Medicine Advancement, Box 358045, Seattle, WA 98195-8045 (http://depts.washington.edu/givemed/give/?source=depres), or the Union of Concerned Scientists (www.ucsusa.org).
