

Chom Chu Kim, 94, entered eternal life in her sleep peacefully at 5:30 p.m. on July 1, 2014. She was a dedicated wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Chom Chu was born on May 29, 1920 in Chang Ryung, S. Korea to Jae-Hahk Woo and Sung-Nahn Suh. She had 2 older brothers. At age four, her parents moved the family to Japan. She became very fluent in Japanese during this time and would often revert to Japanese even in her last days. In 1937 she married Yong-Ho Kim, who preceded her in death in 1974. Chom Chu and her husband moved back to Korea in 1944. In 1976, Chom Chu immigrated to the United States and began a new life in Seattle, WA.
She was extremely active in her church and an integral part of establishing Phillipi Presbyterian Church where she tirelessly served others and the Lord wholeheartedly. Always energetic, she was often seen walking for miles and taking the bus to the International District and downtown to explore and adventure. She disliked wastefulness and encouraged charity. She lived with a pure spirit, spoke frankly and loved fiercely. She was always known to have candy in her purse and a handkerchief in her pocket. But most importantly, she loved the Lord and she loved her family.
Chom Chu is survived by 8 children, 18 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Chom Chu leaves a legacy of love and great life lessons to her children and grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Friday, July 11 from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. at Evergreen Washelli. The funeral services will be held at Evergreen Washelli on Saturday, July 12 at 10 a.m with Pastor Daniel Choe presiding. Burial will immediately follow at Acacia Memorial Park at approximately 12 p.m.
