Born on April 3, 1946, Daniel was a proud graduate of Welch High School in West Virginia where he grew up with his Sister, Bertha. He went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Air Force, a commitment that reflected his deep sense of duty and patriotism. After his military service, Dan continued to serve his community as a dedicated Reserve Police Officer with the Seattle Police Department, volunteering his time to help keep others safe.
Dan was a devoted family man. He is survived by his three children—Christopher Hurt, Rebecca Wynkoop, and Steven Hurt—who carry forward his legacy of strength, kindness, and integrity. He was also blessed with two loving wives during his lifetime, Evelyn Hurt (mother to Christopher, Steven and Rebecca) and Gloria Hurt, both of whom shared in his journey and supported him through life’s many chapters.
He is lovingly remembered by his cherished grandchildren—four granddaughters and two grandsons—and three great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy and pride.
Dan’s life was marked by service, love, and quiet strength. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A Service will be held in Dan’s honor August 8, 2025, 9:15am at The Tahoma National Cemetery. The family will host a larger celebration in December, Dan’s favorite time of year.
