Diana Cullen Massey, 92, passed away Sunday evening, October 3, 2021, at her home in Shoreline, WA.
Diana was born in Pennsylvania to Allen F and Henrietta Frisch Cullen, but grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. She earned her LPN license from Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta. After school she moved to Florida and ended up living in Clewiston with her aunt and uncle, Frances and G.H. Small. There she met and married Harry P. Johnson and had two daughters. This union ended in 1958 and she married Robert (Bob) A. Massey and had two sons. In 1963, Bob and Diana moved their family from Florida to Anchorage, Alaska where Bob was employed as a radio announcer at KHAR.
In August of 1967 Diana moved to Seattle, Washington and went to work at the clinic at Virginia Mason. She worked off and on at various jobs in the medical field, ending her career as an insurance biller for University Physicians in Seattle in 1988.
Diana’s greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren, cooking, reading, playing scrabble and doing crossword puzzles. Diana had many struggles in her life including some physical challenges, but her faith in Jesus Christ helped her keep smiling to the very end.
Diana is survived by her children, Julie and son-in-law Colton Meek of Richland; Susan Trumble and partner Marc Harader of Mill Creek; Robert Massey Jr. of Marysville and Phillip Massey of Shoreline. She is also survived by grandchildren Sarah Meek of Pasco; Jessica (Ben) Sanders of Texas and Sierra Trumble of Mill Creek, and 2 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the owner and caregivers at the Broadview Adult Family Home in Shoreline for the loving care they have given our mom for the last 9 years of her life as well as her care team at Providence Elderplace, Seattle.
