Dorothy Estella Schmidt, 94 originally from Patoka, Illinois, passed away March 25, 2012. Dorothy graduated from Sandoval High School, Illinois in 1934. She went on to get her beauty license and three years later she started her own business, Dorothy's Hairstyling. She married Paul Schmidt, October 2, 1940. In 1956 when Paul's work took him to Seattle she drove across country with five kids to reunite the family. Not long after, she again opened her own salon, Dorothy's Hairstyling, and two more children were born in Seattle. Dorothy was an avid gardener and belonged to two Garden Clubs. Her garden was a sanctuary enjoyed by family, and friends.
She is survived by her sons, William Schmidt, Tom Schmidt, and Bob Schmidt, and her four daughters, Mary Hanks, Carol Morris, Barbara McIntyre, and Theresa Schmidt all living in and around Seattle. She is also survived by her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
