
Dorothy Louise Woodcock of Mercer Island, died May 11, 2007 at 88 years of age. Born in Seattle on February 13, 1919, she graduated from the former Broadway High School in 1937, attended the University of Washington and graduated from the Cornish School of Seattle. She settled on Mercer Island in 1952 and established Dorothy Woodcock Studios where she taught piano for over 60 years. She was a member of the following chapters of the Washington State Music Teachers Association: Seattle Music Teachers, Eastside and Kitsap County. She was a life-long member of First Baptist Church of Seattle, which was previously the site of the hospital where she was born. Dorothy Woodcock is pre-deceased by her husband, Walter Freeman Woodcock and her son, Michael Thomas Woodcock. She is survived by her four grandchildren, Matthew Walter Woodcock, Paul Christian Woodcock, Jennifer Ellen Reed and Courtney Michelle Woodcock, as well as her five great-grandchildren and 9000 piano students. Mrs. Woodcock loved music and animals. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a music or animal foundation of choice in memory of Dorothy Woodcock.
